» NCC Cadets Girls Wing, Govt. P.G. College Rajouri Conduct Campus Cleanliness Drive
NCC Cadets Girls Wing (Army) Of Govt. Post Graduate College Rajouri held by ANO Lt. Shafia Saleem conducted Campus Cleanliness drive under the aegis of principal of the college. A total of sixty cadets actively took part in the cleanliness drive and set an example by dumping all the garbage collected in dustbins and by cleaning various grounds and blocks of the campus. The aim of ‘safai abhayian’ was to maintain environmental balance, motivate students to participate in Swach Baharat Abhiyan and to make aware students about the necessity to keep campus clean. Prof Shabir Hussain Shah, the principal of the college along with the staff members were present on the occasion to motivate the girl cadets. The principal explained the importance of cleanliness to NCC cadets. They were also apprized about the importance of “Swach Bharat Abhayian” and the harmful effects caused by plastic waste to the environment. The Girl cadets were educated and reminded of their responsibility in practicing the same in their localities also to achieve “Swach Bharat Mission.” Before the drive, cadets took the swacchata pledge to remain committed to the ideas of Mahatma Gandhi and realize his dream of a clean India. Many non NCC Volunteers of the college also came and helped to clean campus.

» Govt. P.G. College celebrate Gandhi Jayanti
Govt. P.G. College Rajouri today celebrates Gandhi Jayanti in the Multipurpose hall of the College with great fervor. The programme was organized by cultural and literary committee coordinated by Prof. Iqbal Raina, Prof. Saleem Wani, Prof. Abdul Haq Naimi, Prof. Asif Ajaz Lone, Prof. Nidhi Choudhary. A symposium on the topic peace and Communal Harmony was the main event in which about fourteen speakers participated and deliberated on the topic extensively and tried to explore various facts of Mahatma Ideology to establish an environment of peace and communal harmony in the length and breadth of the country. The programme was chaired by Prof. (Dr.) M.B. Magray former Principal and was presided by Prof. Shabir Hussain Shah Principal of the College whereas Dr. M.K. Waqar, Prof. Haqeeqat Singh Ishar, Prof. Zamir Ahmed Mirza, Dr. Nazakat Hussain, Dr. Naseem Ahmed, Prof. Rahila Mushtaq, Prof. Yasir Choudhary graced the occasion. Prof. Iqbal Raina convener of the Committee in his speech stressed upon the students that the message of peace and communal harmony given by Mahatama Gandhi by his actions to be followed in letter and spirit by all of us. Mr. Sahil Gupta, Ms. Farhana Dar and Mr. Akshay Kumar were adjudged 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively by a panel of judges including Prof. Javed Mughal, Prof. Bashir Chowdhary HOD Physics and Prof. Assadullah Khan Department Chemistry. The programme was a grand success as it opened up a candid debate on the relevance of Mahatimas Mission in creating a peaceful and progressive India besides discussing the common teachings of various religions in achieving the real peace and communal harmony Prof. Saleem Wani presented welcome address whereas Mr. Shadab and Mr. Sahil Coordinated the proceedings of the dais and Prof. Bashir Ahmed HOD Physics presented vote of thanks.

» P.G. College Rajouri Celebrate Teachers Day

Maintaining the tradition of organizing Teacher Day with great fervor the Literary and Cultural Committee of Govt. P.G. College Rajouri once again stepped forward to celebrate the same in the Multipurpose Hall of the College. The event was a grand success as it enabled the students and staff to deliberate on various facets of a good teacher besides creating an opportunity for the teachers to introspect and move forward with renewed energies to shape the younger generation.

            As many as thirteen students participated in the programme which was chaired by Prof. Shabir Hussain Shah, Principal. Whereas all the faculty members of the College remained present and graced the occasion.

            Prof. Iqbal Raina coordinator of the committee along with Prof. Mohd Saleem Wani, Prof. Nassem Ahmed coordinated the entire event and made it a grand success. The judges of the symposium titled as “Teacher- A Planner, guide and a philosopher included Prof. Farooq Ahmed Mirza, Prof. Nater Parkash and Ahsan-Ul-Rehman Raza where as Prof. Assadullah Khan, was also present on the occasion. Prof. Zamir Ahmed Mirza, Staff Secretary of the College presented the welcome address and students of the College managed the proceedings of the dais.

» ORGANIZED WORKSHOP ON ST Scholarship

Govt. P.G. College Rajouri organized one day workshop under the patronage of Department of Tribal Affairs Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir.

            The representatives of the Tribal Affairs Department Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir made the ST students of this College and representatives of different Colleges aware about the discrepancies and reasons due to which ST scholarship could not be disbursed properly among the students for the last two years.

            The representatives of the above mentioned Department also made the students aware about the various steps taken for the online submission of the scholarship form.

            Dr. Bashir Ahmed HOD Physics who is also Nodal Officer of SC/ST Scholarship Scheme  of the College addressed the students and acted as coordinator of the programme.

            Principal of the College Prof. S.H. Shah also appreciated the Department of Tribal Affairs for monitoring such awareness camps in the College and asked the students to follow the online guidelines suggested by the Department.

» Govt. P.G. College Rajouri Organized Entrepreneurship Development Programme

Govt. P.G. College Rajouri organized one day Entrepreneurship Development programme under the patronage of J&K Entrepreneurship Development Institute, Rajouri. The programme was run in collaboration  with the Department of Commerce & Geography of the College. The experts from J&K Entrepreneurship Development Institute included Basit Khursheed, Community Organizer; Shuja Mir, Nodal Officer and Wasim Raja, Community Organzier. The resource persons discussed in detail the avenues of entrepreneurship development in J&K State in general and in hilly areas of  Rajouri & Poonch in particular. They also made aware the audience about the benefits of various schemes available from Govt. for entrepreneurship development.

          In addition to staff members a large number of students also participated in the programme. The Principal of the College Prof. Shabir Hussain Shah who was also available on the occasion said in his message that the youth of the area must understand the need of the time and come forward entrepreneurial field. The proceedings of the programme were carried on by Dr. Y.P. Sharma HOD Commerce whereas vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Abdul Qayoom Khan HOD Geography of the College.

» Geography Department of Govt. P. G. College Rajouri Organizes an Extension Lecture

            The Department of Geography Govt. Post Graduate College Rajouri organized an extension lecture for the students of B.A/B.Sc Semester-V on the topic “Space relationship, Physical and Social Profile of Gujjars and Bakarwals of India: A case study of Jammu and Kashmir State.” The resource person was Professor (Dr.) Mohammad Bashir Magray, former Principal and Head Geography. Prof. Magray discussed the origin, diffusion, physical and socio-economic life of Gujjars and Bakarwals of Jammu and Kashmir State. In his findings he observed that 98.99% Gujjars and 70-75% Bakarwals are sedentrized. He further concluded that the remaining percentage who practiced transhumance is the illiterate and attached with Maqadams and Choudhary as shepherd.   He stressed on the Govt. to pay special attention for the education and socio-economic upliftment of this population. A large gathering of students was present on the occasion. Dr. Taseem Ahmed Malik, Dr. Nawaz Ahmed Malik, Prof. Shazia Manhas, Prof. Aftab-ul-Haq, Prof. Muzaffar Hussain, Prof. Mohd Asam and Prof. Ramana Devi of Geography department were also present. The Principal of the College, Prof. Shabir Hussain Shah was also present on the occasion
